A novel homage to one of nature’s greatest gifts, these two proposals operate as seasonal, live-in breweries for a fulltime Swiss brewmaster. The winter-time brewery, located on the slopes of St. Moritz, is comprised of three occupiable volumes of precast concrete situated within a horizontally spanning glass frame. Conversely, the summer-time brewery is located in downtown Zürich and consists of four glass volumes which protrude out from a vertical concrete envelope. In the more rural setting, the construction acts to store the heat being generated by the brewery process and release it into the residence over the course of the night. In the urban structure, the glass volumes distribute the heat to the interior of the building to be passively ventilated and removed, ensuring occupant comfort. In either instance, it is fun to know what life inside a bubble really looks like.
